I am attributing this dresser
to the Majestic Furniture Co., Mexico, NY located about 30 miles
north of Syracuse. Over the years I have had a handful of pieces
by this company. They were fully aware of what Gustav Stickley
was doing which is evident by the designs they produced. Two
pieces come to mind, an 8 leg sideboard and a 2 door china cabinet,
that at first glance look like Gus. Inspecting them closer you
would notice the hardware which was more involved than Stickley's.
This piece measures 61" tall x 48" wide x 24" deep.

I have never seen another piece
by this company that I know of. It has a partial paper label
underneath that says "Greenma-" "Grand Rapi--" that
would not photograph. It's an interesting design with splayed
legs with corbels supporting the top, shoe feet and a shelf that
is lower than one would expect. The nearly black finish is recent
and the table is in good condition. The table measures 29" tall
and it's 28" in diameter.

and very good condition. Measures 34 3/4" tall x 40" wide

This daybed is unattributed
although I believe it was produced by a company in Upstate NY.
It's similarities to L&JG Stickley and JM Young are evident.
The covering is Naugahyde and probably 50 years old, fine original
finish.

Examples of this stool have been attributed
to L&JG Stickley but I believe this piece was produced by J.
M. Young from Camden, NY. This has been reupholstered in a nice
medium brown leather with decorative tacks, the way it was originally
done. Measures 16 1/4 inches tall x 19 inches wide x 15 inches
deep, perfect size for in front of a Morris chair. |

Rustic Settee by The Old Hickory Furniture
Co. in excellent original condition with the original seat that
appears to be a form of bamboo splint. Signed with branded mark
and measures 34" tall x 45" wide x 22" deep. |

The maker of this open bookcase
is unknown. It does have nice proportions and an intact fumed
finish. The cutouts are reminiscent of some Limbert pieces. At
one point, maybe when it was originally produced, there was a
brass rod installed behind the top horizontal piece with the
cutout to hold a curtain. This would look nice with an A&C
linen panel. Measures 54 1/4" tall x 43" wide x 13" deep.

stands that are attributed to Leavens Furniture Co. and came
from a camp near Tupper Lake in the Adirondacks. Both are original
finish and in good condition. Measuring 30 inches tall x 20 inches
wide x 16 inches deep would make nice bed side tables or end
table next to a settle.

This is a wonderful pair of matching Morris chairs. They are in excellent condition with new spring seats and leather upholstery (not done by us). The chairs are 38 inches tall by 31 1/2 inches wide by 36 inches deep. There are nine square spindles under each arm and constructed with mortise and tenon with exposed doweling. The chairs have three reclining positions held with a wood pin. This happens to be the method used for the back pivot point as well. Maker unknown but have the feeling of being done earlier in the period circa 1905 - 1910.

Shop of the Crafters inlayed cabinet produced in Cincinnati, Ohio. Cabinets of this design are quite hard to find, between the open shelves and the inlay work in the cabinet doors this would make a strong architectural statement whether used in a period or very contemporary setting. This is in original finish. The overall measurements are 63 inches tall by 31 1/2 inches wide by 17 inches deep.

Roycroft tall pedestal bookcase or book stand. These are somewhat rare and hard to find especially in this condition. This did show some evidence of red paint under the shelves that I have had removed. Other than that it may be the original surface, it sure looks like that to me. Measures 63 1/2" tall x 17 3/4" wide x 17 3/4" deep. |

Limbert arm chair and rocker. These are a a couple of the more interesting
pieces of Limbert that I have had or even seen over the 25 years I have
been collecting. Viennese and Glasgow influences are evident in these two
pieces and the attention paid to detail is extraordinary. With that said
we move on to condition which happens to be perfect almost to the extent
of encapsulation at the time of manufacturer. I don't know how these survived
as they were reputed to come from a camp in the upper Adirondack Mountains.
The chair measures 40" tall x 30 1/2" wide x 24 1/2" deep. |

J.M. Young foot stool, original finish with new leather upholstery. Measures 17" tall x 18" wide x 13" deep. |

Stickley Brothers, Grand Rapids, MI Morris Chair. A great form, deep and comfortable. This is stenciled with the model number 3451 and has the rounded tenons we are familiar with. Excellent original condition with a new dark brown leather upholstery. I do like the length of the arms and the method used to recline the back. Measures 38" tall x 33 1/2" wide x 39 1/4" deep.

Shop of the Crafters side chairs produced in Cincinnati, Ohio of this design are quite hard to find. Between the height and the inlay work they would make a strong architectural statement whether used in a period or very contemporary setting. When these were offered to me they were completely filthy from being stored in an attic for generations. Once we had cleaned them they did need finish work and some veneer repair along the top edges of the front of the backs. They look fantastic now. |

Roycroft luggage racks are not the rarest form to come around but lately I haven't seen any of them. This piece actually came out of the Roycroft Inn in East Aurora, NY and has the Inn inventory number stamped on it, #R22. It is in excellent original finish and condition. The piece measures 26" tall x 30" wide x 18" deep. |

Limbert table, 25 3/4" tall x 22" in diameter. This is a nice functional table, the perfect size for next to your morris chair. Very good condition with a recent finish, branded signature. |
 |
Limbert Console Table. This is one of the few trapezoidal forms produced. A great form for an entryway or behind your settle. The dimensions make it perfect for that space where you need a narrow long table. This has been refinished and well done. Measures 29" tall x 60" wide x 18" deep. |
 |
Limbert round table with splayed legs and through
tennons. This is a nice design and could work in a couple of different
applications. With the overhang that this has it would be possible
to put a couple of small chairs around it. The finish and condition
is original and it is signed with the brand. 29 1/2" tall x 36" in diameter. |
