This desk thought to have been designed
by Harvey Ellis was probably the creation of some other designer
working at the Craftsman Workshops of Gustav Stickley. In any
event it is a very pleasing form and this example is in very
good condition. The finish had an overcoat which we removed and
had an appropriate shellac and wax finish applied. It still retains
its original ink wells, paper label and red decal used between
1905 and 1912. Measures 44" tall x 30" wide x 13" deep.

Gustav Stickley settle cataloged as number
208 and signed with a brand, 1913, on the inside side stretcher.
Edges are crisp and sharp and the color is a beautiful medium
warm brown. This is one of my favorite models and the same settle
I have in my own collection. Having a very contemporary feel
it would go as well in an Arts and Crafts setting as it would
with more modern surrounds. Measures 29 inches tall x 75 3/4
inches long x 32 inches deep.
We offer expert upholstery work if you so decide and would
be happy to supply references. We can make your piece as structured
or relaxed as you like. In the recent past we upholstered a
#222 with a down cushion and down throw pillows, it may have
been the most comfortable settle I have ever sat in. If you
have questions regarding upholstery please don't hesitate to
email or call.

I would have to call this an unusual and reasonably rare Gustav Stickley desk chair. It is cataloged as number 2578 in the 1902 retail plates in "The Early Works of Gustav Stickley". It is in wonderful condition with the original dark finish and decal used from 1902 through 1904. It does have a new natural rush seat. |
|
Rocker number 317, this is in very good condition with the original leather

Gustav Stickley deep seated rocker model number 323. Great original finish and condition. I did have this re-glued. |
Child's chair in very good original finish and condition with new dark
brown leather. Signed with a red decal. 26" tall x 18" wide x 14" deep |
 |
Gustav Stickley candlesticks are quite rare. This is a single of a very desirable form, the strap stick. I find it curious that the bobche has a very similar form to that of Roycroft Tulip sticks. Victor Toothacher did work for both Gus and Elbert Hubbard maybe he had a hand in this. Patina is very good and original and the stick is marked with the later Gus die stamp mark. Stands 12 1/4" tall and the base is 6" square. |

 |
The morris chair is unique. Its design is tight and compact with greater energy than felt in later designs. This was also produced from chestnut and like the server was finished in green that is still evident in protected areas of the piece. The arms are wider than the narrow arm example but narrower than the wide arm. The legs have a reverse taper that is interrupted with the notched feet, a detail not seen on any other morris chairs. The seat support is a simple frame wrapped in jute webbing with a decking of original green fabric, possibly the proverbial Craftsman canvas. Like the server and other early pieces all the edges are chamfered. Another detail; not seen often is the graduated chamfer on the edge of the arch measuring ¾ of an inch at the ends tapering to 3/8 in the middle.
Both pieces are in original surface and in very good condition. Chair measures 38 inches tall x 29 ¾ inches wide x 30 ¾ inches deep and the server measures 33 inches tall x 42 inches wide x 20 ½ inches deep.
