This beautiful 1902-03 Gustav Stickley wardrobe
has an incredible original finish with crisp edges. In other
words it's in great condition. The interior is fully fitted with
drawers. The mirror's silvering is gone, Gus didn't plan for
the acid in the wood reacting with the mirror. The sides are
made of a full 1 5/8 inch thick frame and panel construction
with flush tenons. This stands 71 3/4 inches tall by 35 inches
wide and 22 1/2 inches deep. Red decal on back.

Gustav Stickley dressing screen designed
by Harvey Ellis. This form is pictured in January 1904 Craftsman
Magazine, with inlay in the upper panels. This screen has an
original warm red/brown finish in fine condition and retains
the 1902-04 red decal. I have had the fabric replaced with a
very nice natural linen exactly the way it is pictured. This
is not a large or imposing piece and would accent any room nicely.
Stands 67" tall and each panel is 20" wide.

This may be the most interesting Gustav Stickley eight leg sideboard to have come on the market in many years. It is quite early and proportioned a little different than later examples (the top is not quite as high and the gallery is a bit taller). This difference makes the piece seem smaller although measures out nearly the same as later examples. The hardware is much different using square butt hinges and the elongated triangular bails on the doors. There is no veneer used in this piece like in every other Eight leg I have seen, even the earlier examples. The doors are a frame and panel construction and the ends are glued up boards. The finish is fine and original. Signed with the 1902-1903 decal on the back. The dimensions are 49 1/2 inches tall x 69 3/4 inches wide x 29 3/4 inches deep.

After all that has been written about Gustav
Stickley and his achievements it is not difficult to understand
why every piece of furniture that surfaces by The Craftsman Workshops
has historic importance, some more than others. However, it is
rare when undocumented pieces surface, this server is one of
these instances. I believe it was produced in late 1900 or early
1901. Documentation on his earliest designs show a server similar
to this. If you were to follow the development of his designs
and how they evolved you could see this fits very early in the
progression.
The wood is American Chestnut, many times the wood of choice
prior to 1904. This server which was designed without a back
splash is quite minimal having a molded edge on the horizontal
shelf and the board supporting the drawers. The slightly chamfered
tenons are keyed by simple angled wedges and the drawers are
all assembled with hand cut dovetails still showing the scribe
marks by the craftsman that produced it. Server measures 33 inches
tall x 42 inches wide x 20 ½ inches deep. Original surface
and in very good condition.
